Fishing Picking Up Again

Johnie went out today and came back with a dozen sun fish. The two guys he fished with caught 18 and 20 fish. Warmer weather doesn't hurt either. He also said there is plenty ice out there, although there is a couple inches of water sitting on top. Make sure to get out soon before the ice is gone!

Weekend Fishing a Little Slow

We had a group here this weekend that rented all of the motel rooms and spent the weekend fishing and having fun. They reported the fishing was not real good although they caught some fish. Our vacation home guests said they did pretty good. Johnie fished this weekend and also reported the fishing was slow. The fishing changes from day to day so come out and enjoy the great winter weather we've been having.

Ice Fishing Continues

Big crappies were caught over the weekend. The fishing today is pretty slow and the bigger fish are hard to find. There is plenty of elbow room on the ice.

Dam Beaver

We have a local trapper trying to remove the beavers that are causing cave-ins on the dike banks of the marina. This week Trapper Randy has caught 1. There is still activity. We are hoping he is successful in catching more, but it is difficult with the ice and snow to locate the runs. Check out the beaver photos:) Look at those long teeth! Yikes! Back paws are webbed-pretty neat.
People are not fishing as much due to the cold snap. The Stoddard Ice Fishing Tournament is this Saturday, January 30th. I am sure there will be lots of folks out fishing in the tourney searching out the big ones. The temperature will improve tommorrow, a high of 17 degrees is expected and sunny which should make for a nice day on the ice.

Waters Edge full of Ice Fishermen

We have a large group of ice fishermen renting all of the rooms here at Waters Edge this weekend. Johnnie just got in off from the ice with 20 sunnies in 4 hours. Some guy fishing next to Johnnie caught some nice perch also. There is a report of some crappies being caught in the evening just north of Waters Edge.
